Exciting news: Students to start painting mural for upcoming Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown!

Local Artist and Teacher Collaborate with Children to Create Stunning Mural for New Science Center in Allentown

A mural that will grace the wall of the new Da Vinci Science Center in downtown Allentown is being painted by a local artist and Bethlehem Area School District art teacher, Carla Majczan. The project involves about 300 students who have been working on the design for quite some time now.

The mural, which is 120 feet long, will be created by Carla in collaboration with the students. She had students at the Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers create art and designs based on her lesson plans for art and science. These children produced boxes full of art and ideas, which were then sorted through to create the final mural design. The design is directly based on the children’s drawings and designs.

The kids are meeting Thursday morning in the gym at the Judith Chase Early Learning Center on Chew Street to start painting. The mural will be installed at the new science center in late May or early June. The center’s opening date is set for May 22.
