Empowering to Support: Youth Mental Health First Aid Training Comes to Windom on April 20
On April 20, the University of Nebraska Medical Center will be conducting a training session on Youth Mental Health First Aid at the Cottonwood County Historical Society in Windom. The training, which runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., is designed specifically for individuals who work with young people and will be offered in Spanish to reach a wider audience.
During the training, facilitators, including an outreach project specialist and a Ph.D. student, will impart valuable skills to recognize signs of mental illness, identify signs of substance use disorder, offer support during a mental health crisis, and engage in conversations with family and friends about mental health. This training is intended for adults only and will include a light breakfast served at 7:30 a.m., as well as lunch provided for all participants.
Upon completion of the training, participants will receive a $25 gift card and a certificate of participation.
