Exploring the Depths of Science: The 3rd Annual Kansas Science Festival Celebrates Lifelong Learning and STEAM

The 3rd annual Kansas Science Festival took place today in downtown Manhattan, featuring over 150 presenters in 50 booths with a wide range of activities related to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). Practitioners from across the state, including K-State and NBAF, were present to showcase things like paper microscopes, exploration of Kansas’s native fish, and biophysics.

Phillip Shults, the program coordinator for the festival, highlighted the event’s goal of getting both kids and parents excited about science and learning. He expressed gratitude for the community support that made the event possible and noted that everyone can take something away from it regardless of age. Due to weather conditions, some activities were relocated to the library to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

The festival aimed to engage both children and adults with its diverse lineup of events. Organizers emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and encouraged attendees to continue their scientific journey beyond the event’s end. Overall, it was a successful collaboration between STEAM practitioners, volunteers, and community members who shared a passion for promoting science education and exploration.
