Kyle Busch secures pole position for Dover Motor Speedway Cup race

Thrilling NASCAR Cup Race at Dover Motor Speedway: A Look at Qualifying and Group B Practice

On Sunday, Dover Motor Speedway will host the NASCAR Cup race at 2 p.m. ET on FS1. Kyle Busch has won the pole with a lap of 162.191 mph, marking his 34th career Cup pole and second at Dover. Ryan Blaney, William Byron, Tyler Reddick, and Noah Gragson rounded out the top five in qualifying.

Notable drivers like Denny Hamlin, Chase Briscoe, Michael McDowell, Alex Bowman, and AJ Allmendinger secured top 10 starting positions. Corey Heim filled in for the injured Erik Jones in 32nd place with a lap of 159.327 mph, as Jones will miss the race after suffering a compression fracture in a lower vertebra following an incident at Talladega.

However, additional issues arose during qualifying as Christopher Bell spun during his opening lap and scraped the rear of the car against the outside wall. Despite these challenges, the green flag is set to wave at 2:11 p.m., with FS1 providing coverage beginning with NASCAR RaceDay at 1 p.m.

In Group B practice, Zane Smith and Kaz Grala were unable to take part in qualifying due to crashes that required them to use backup cars. Grala hit the wall nose-first in his No. 15 Ford while Smith suffered an accident that caused damage to his car’s bodywork.

The NASCAR Cup race promises to be an exciting event with some of the best drivers competing for victory at Dover Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon!
