Benzing of Towson University Receives Academic All-America Honors

Record-Setting Towson Swimmer Named College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Second Team

Towson senior men’s swimmer Brian Benzing has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America second team for his outstanding performance in the classroom. With a 3.76 GPA, Benzing is majoring in sports marketing, demonstrating his dedication to both academics and athletics.

Benzing has been a standout performer throughout his swimming career at Towson. He was named the CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Year for the fourth consecutive season and received All-America honors at the NCAA Championship after finishing second in the 100 breast with a record-setting time of 50.59. In addition, he was an honorable mention All-American in the 200 breast, setting a CAA record with a time of 1:52.71 in the prelims.

At the CAA Championship, Benzing won the Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet for the third time and set a meet record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:42.82. He also placed 23rd in the 200 IM at the NCAA’s, another CAA record that he set with a time of 1:42.82. Additionally, he was part of Towson’s 800 free relay team that set a meet record in
