Natalia Grossman Takes Home Fifth Consecutive Boulder Crown at IFSC World Cup Despite Knee Injury
On Sunday evening in Salt Lake City, American climber Natalia Grossman once again demonstrated her dominance in the sport by winning her fifth consecutive boulder crown at the IFSC World Cup stop. Despite struggling with a knee injury, Grossman pushed through and topped three out of the four boulders to secure her victory in front of her friends and family.
Following Grossman were France’s Oriane Bertone and Naïlé Meignan who claimed second and third place on the podium. Grossman admitted that she had initially considered not competing due to her injury and bigger plans for the year, but ultimately decided to compete and give it her all.
Grossman expressed her pride in her performance, noting how special it was to win at the Salt Lake City World Cup due to the support from the crowd and having her family around. She attributed her motivation for victory to knowing that there were many talented competitors in the competition.
In addition to Grossman’s victory, Japan’s Anraku Sorato won the men’s category while American climbers Emma Hunt and Sam Watson secured titles in women’s speed climbing events respectively. The atmosphere at Salt Lake City was electric as climbers from around the world showcased their skills, making it a memorable event for all involved.
