Fleet Week in Miami: A Special Occasion for Both Military and Community

Miami has been chosen as the destination for Fleet Week in South Florida, with the U.S. military bringing four ships to PortMiami for the event. The week of activities kicked off at the Frost Museum of Science on Sunday, where attendees were treated to a free performance by the U.S. Navy Band and had the opportunity to meet sailors and Marines, as well as witness real K-9 training demonstrations.

Dr. Cassie Freund, director of science communication at Frost Science, expressed excitement about having the Navy in Miami for Fleet Week. She highlighted the significance of their presence in a city located on the ocean and emphasized their role in the community. The Navy’s participation in demonstrating different types of science was also noted as valuable.

More than 3,000 members of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard are participating in Fleet Week in South Florida, making it a special occasion for both the military and local community alike.
