Clifford Omoruyi, a standout shot-blocker, moves to Alabama from Rutgers

New Players, New Opportunities: Alabama Strengthens 2024-25 Basketball Lineup with Clifford Omoruyi and Other Transfers

This offseason, Alabama has been busy adding new talent to their roster for the 2024-25 season. The latest addition is Clifford Omoruyi from Rutgers, who was ranked as the No. 13 player in CBS Sports’ Transfer Rankings. Known for his shot-blocking abilities, Omoruyi recorded an impressive 93 blocks before the NCAA Tournament during his four seasons at Rutgers.

Throughout his time at Rutgers, Omoruyi started 104 games and averaged 10.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in 26 minutes per game. He joins a Crimson Tide team that has already added Aden Holloway from Auburn, Chris Youngblood from USF, and Houston Mallette from Pepperdine this offseason. With six players departing from their Final Four roster from the previous season, including Mohamed Wague, Nick Pringle, and Sam Walters, Alabama will have to adjust to a new lineup.

However, the addition of Omoruyi and other transfers is not all bad news for the Crimson Tide. In fact, they also have the No. 2 recruiting class from the 2024 cycle featuring top talents like five-star center Derrion Reid, four-star forward Aiden Sherrell, four-star guard Labaron Philon, and four-star forward Naas Cunningham. This influx of new talent sets up Alabama for a strong campaign in the upcoming season as they aim to build on their recent success.
