Newest Social Businesses Awarded EUR 1.6 Million to Sustainable Cleaning and Laundry Services in Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Village

Nine social businesses have been awarded EUR 1.6 million in contracts to provide cleaning and laundry services for the 24,000 residents of the Olympic and Paralympic Village. These businesses prioritize social and environmental sustainability in their operations.

The Aquatic Centre and La Chappelle Arena feature 11,000 chairs made from sustainable materials developed as part of the Le Pavé project. This project, created by three young entrepreneurs, focuses on transforming plastic waste into innovative materials that can replace cement and virgin plastic. The success of what began as a student project now lies in its commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Halage, an association dedicated to training individuals who face barriers to employment, has created green spaces within the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Village. Their work aims to reintegrate nature into urban areas affected by pollution, promoting sustainability and community engagement.

H.A.W.A AU FÉMININ, a company providing training in fashion-related activities, has supported women facing life challenges in creating souvenirs from used textile materials from the Arena Porte de la Chapelle construction site. This initiative promotes creativity and skill development while reducing waste and promoting sustainability in the construction industry.
