Local Teen Achieves Master’s Degree in Computer Science at the Age of 17 from the University of Pittsburgh

On Saturday, a local teen celebrated a special day as 17-year-old RJ Krishnaswamy received his master’s degree in computer science from the University of Pittsburgh. RJ had previously earned his bachelor’s degree from Pitt last year and expressed his excitement with KDKA-TV about having something tangible to show for his hard work.

RJ shared that defending a thesis was a challenging aspect of his academic journey, but he felt proud to have achieved this milestone. Daniel Mosse, a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Pittsburgh, commended RJ for choosing their institution for both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Mosse expressed his pride in the work that RJ has done so far, especially in terms of publication opportunities that may lay ahead for the young graduate.

Now equipped with his master’s degree, RJ is undecided about his next steps but is eagerly awaiting a response from Pitt regarding the beginning of his doctorate studies. This educational achievement at such a young age highlights the dedication and hard work that RJ has put into his academic pursuits, setting him on a path towards continued success in the field of computer science.
