German Vice Chancellor Emphasizes Support for Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom during Visit to Kiev and Moldova
German Vice Chancellor and Economy Minister Robert Habeck arrived in Kiev on Thursday for a visit that focused on Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, emergency aid, and strengthening the country’s economy. Accompanied by a business delegation, Habeck emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine in its “fight for freedom” while highlighting the country’s struggle for self-determination, territorial integrity, and European values against Russian aggression.
Habeck is scheduled to meet with President Zelensky, Deputy Prime Minister and Economics Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Energy Minister German Galushchenko, among others during his visit to Kiev. Following his trip to Kiev, Habeck will travel to Moldova to meet with Prime Minister Dorin Recean. Moldova, a pro-Western country aspiring to join the EU, sees itself as threatened by Moscow and shares a border with Ukraine. The trip underscores Germany’s commitment to supporting Ukraine and its neighboring countries in the face of Russian aggression and promoting stability and prosperity in the region.
