Chautauqua Christian Academy Defenders’ Remarkable Resilience in Overtime Victory

The Chautauqua Christian Academy Defenders’ resilience was on full display in the consolation game against Faith Christian of West Virginia, as they overcame a five-point deficit in the final minute of regulation to win 67-60 in overtime. Marcus Ryan and Sawyer Lynn scored crucial baskets to force extra time, and it was Lynn who made the clutch go-ahead 3-pointer that secured the victory for the Defenders.

The Defenders had a strong showing overall in the tournament, finishing third in Division 5 after a loss to the eventual champions in the quarterfinals. However, they showed their true potential in the consolation game, where they displayed determination and skill. Lynn’s 19 points, including three 3-pointers, played a key role in their victory, while junior Marcus Ryan stood out with an impressive 34-point performance.

Hunter Edwards contributed 10 rebounds and Kayden Peterson excelled on defense throughout the season. Both Ryan and Lynn earned spots on the All-Tournament team for their standout performances. Overall, the Chautauqua Christian Academy Defenders displayed determination and skill in their tournament run, culminating in a memorable victory in the consolation game.
