New Interim CEO Brings Familiarity to Centra Health: Richard Tugman Named as Head of the Organization during Transition Period
Richard Tugman has been named as the interim president and CEO of Centra Health in Lynchburg, following the departure of Amy Carrier. Tugman previously served as Centra’s interim CEO in 2021 and has been CEO of Piedmont Community Health Plan since 2016. The board of directors at Centra expressed gratitude to Carrier for her contributions to the organization and wished her success in her future endeavors.
Tugman’s deep understanding of the organization and its people makes him well-suited to lead Centra during this transition period while a national search for a permanent CEO is conducted. Thomas Nygaard, M.D., Chair of Centra’s Board of Directors, expressed his confidence in Tugman’s ability to effectively lead Centra during this time.
A transition committee has been appointed to advise Tugman in his new role as interim president and CEO. The board looks forward to working with Tugman as they search for a new, permanent CEO to lead the organization in the future.
