Google uses AI to generate personalized travel itineraries for users

Exploring Google’s Search Generative Experience: Your Ultimate Travel Companion

Google has recently introduced a feature called Search Generative Experience (SGE) that allows users to create itineraries and plan trips using generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). This experimental feature offers overviews and additional links at the top of search results to show multiple perspectives on search queries. Initially available in the United States and Japan, SGE has expanded to Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa, and other countries with support for additional languages like Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, and Indonesian.

The company has announced new capabilities related to this experience, including the ability to automatically create travel itineraries for users in the United States. These itineraries include suggestions for activities, restaurants, as well as flight and hotel options. Users can explore these suggestions, which include reviews, links, and photographs provided by other Google users.

To use these features, users need to register with Search Labs and enable SGE. The generative AI can also be used to personalize lists of tourist places, organize travel plans, and share places visited within Google Maps. Users can choose the order in which places appear on the map, link content to specific points on the map
