Elon Musk Calls for a ‘Complete Restructuring’ at Tesla

Elon Musk says that Tesla periodically requires a “complete organizational overhaul” in order to advance to the next level. This statement follows a recent round of mass layoffs at Tesla that resulted in over 10% of the staff being let go. Musk believes that such reorganizations are necessary for the company’s growth.

In a public post, Musk mentioned that Tesla needs to undergo a significant overhaul every “half decade or so” to enable innovation and growth. He also noted that the company has seen executive tenure exceed 10 years, highlighting stability within leadership. Despite the layoffs, Tesla still maintains a strong workforce of over 140,000 employees worldwide.

Musk’s memo to staff addressed rapid company growth, which had led to duplications in roles and job functions. While he expressed a distaste for layoffs, Musk emphasized the importance of streamlining operations to remain competitive in the industry.
