Georgia-Pacific Accelerates Manufacturing Decision-Making Using Gen AI

Revolutionizing Manufacturing: How Georgia-Pacific is Using AI to Optimize Decision-Making

Georgia-Pacific, a well-known manufacturer of paper goods products and the parent company to popular brands like Quilted Northern, Brawny, Dixie, and Vanity Fair, is harnessing the power of generative AI to optimize its manufacturing decision-making processes. By leveraging advanced analytics and intelligent decision management tools, the company is able to quickly analyze sensor data, business rules, and recommender systems in order to make the most informed decisions possible within its operations.

Roshan Shah, Vice President of Collaboration and Support Center at Georgia-Pacific, shared that the technology provided by SAS has been instrumental in helping the company make real-time decisions. Through this partnership, Georgia-Pacific gains access to a wide range of AI and ML-powered tools for qualitative decisioning flow, data anonymization and encryption, natural language processing, and data governance.

As consumer goods companies continue to evolve in response to changing market demands and consumer preferences, many are turning to predictive AI-powered decision making as a way to streamline their operations. A recent report from Relex found that 27% of surveyed CPG and retail respondents cited challenges with slow and misaligned planning cycles while 79% emphasized the importance of day-level planning for accurately forecasting and responding to consumer demands. This underscores the growing need for advanced technologies that can drive more efficient and effective decision making processes in the manufacturing industry.
