Reviving the Northgate Mall: Local Businesses and Community Unite for Success
In recent years, the Northgate Mall in Lafayette has faced challenges as businesses have moved to the more modern South side of town. However, business owners at the mall are optimistic about its future and believe it still has major potential for growth and success.
Ebony Roberts, who left her teaching job to open a skincare business at the mall six years ago, emphasizes that there are still many thriving businesses at the Northgate Mall. With 35 shops mostly owned by local entrepreneurs, there is a strong sense of community and pride in preserving the legacy of the area.
Christopher Rubin, a licensed cosmetologist at the mall, fondly recalls a time when it was the place to be for the north side community. Despite the changes, he believes that the mall can once again become a hub for local businesses and shoppers with dedication and determination from those involved.
