Rampage Driver Arrested in Palm Springs: 10:17 pm Incident Leaves Several Businesses Damaged and One Vehicle Totaled
On a Friday evening at around 10:17 p.m., a 30-year-old man named Jose Uzaga was arrested by the Palm Springs Police Department (PSPD) after driving his car through multiple businesses in Palm Springs, including Sunny Days and Destination PSP. The incident began when Uzaga attempted to ram into the ‘Forever Marilyn’ statue on Museum Way in a maroon SUV. However, due to barricades, he was unable to reach the statue and continued down N. Palm Canyon Drive and through a walkway between businesses, causing damage along the way.
Uzaga then collided with the rear window of one business and caused damage to another before driving onto Palm Canyon Drive and hitting a parked car. He then fled the scene. Video footage posted to the PSPD Facebook Page captured the events as they unfolded. The SUV was later found crashed into another vehicle several blocks away on S. Palm Canyon Drive.
According to police reports, Uzaga is suspected of driving under the influence during the incident. Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to contact the PSPD Traffic Division or Crime Stoppers with information. The incident is being investigated further by law enforcement officials.
