Federal Government Investment Boosts Head Start Programs in Memphis with $21M in Grants

Memphis Health Center Inc., Porter-Leath, and the Shelby County Board of Education have been awarded a combined total of $21,309,797 in grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Specifically, Porter-Leath will receive $1,385,603 to operate its Head Start programs, the Board of Education will receive $14,553,699 for its Head Start programs, and Memphis Health Center will receive $5,370,495 to support its programs.

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) issued a statement expressing his satisfaction with the significant investment from the federal government. He particularly highlighted the funding for Head Start programs as being crucial to helping young students prepare for school and navigate the complexities of the world. This funding will have a positive impact on the community and improve the lives of many individuals.
