Empowering Women in Sports: Vice President Kamala Harris Hosts Influential Gathering, Encourages Trailblazers

At her residence, Vice President Kamala Harris recently hosted a gathering of influential women in the sports industry. The attendees included league commissioners, team owners, athletic directors, and athletes. The event was held in collaboration with the Women’s Sports Foundation, with founder Billie Jean King also present.

During the celebration, Harris emphasized the importance of providing equitable opportunities for women in sports to empower them and develop strong young women. She shared some words of wisdom that her mother used to tell her, encouraging the attendees to be trailblazers and pave the way for future generations. Harris highlighted the impact of the work being done by the women in attendance, emphasizing the importance of representation and breaking barriers.

Among those distinguished guests were Scout Bassett, a Paralympian and president of the Women’s Sports Foundation; Jessica Berman, commissioner of the National Women’s Soccer League; Nikki Fargas, president of the Las Vegas Aces; Darcie Kassewitz, owner of Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Francie Gottsegen, president of North Carolina Courage; and Renee Montgomery, owner of Atlanta Dream.
