Free Health Screenings Offered at Black Wellness Family Expo in Arizona

Black Community Tackles Health Disparities with Phoenix Expo and Azfamily.com’s Positive Stories of Kindness.

The American Cancer Society reports that the Black community has the highest death rate and shortest survival for most types of cancer in the United States. In an effort to change this, the Phoenix chapter of The Links, Incorporated is hosting the Black Wellness Family Expo. This event aims to educate people about their diagnosis and promote awareness of various health conditions, including breast and prostate cancer, kidney disease, and heart health. Free health screenings, mammograms, and car seat safety checks will be available at the event, along with access to health care information and services. The expo will take place at South Mountain Community College, near 24th Street and Baseline Road, and will include a free lunch for participants. Registration is available at blackfamilywellnessexpo.org.

At azfamily.com’s Something Good page, positive stories of kindness and good deeds in the community are highlighted. If you know someone or a business that deserves recognition for their efforts, you can share their story on the website by clicking ‘Share Your Story’. Spelling or grammatical errors in stories can also be reported on the website. Additionally, if you have a photo or video of a breaking news story, you can submit it with a brief description on the site. Copyright 2024 KTVK/KPHO. All rights reserved.
