Brooke Henderson makes strong move up Chevron leaderboard before play halted due to weather

21-Year-Old Atthaya Thitikul, Two-Time Major Champion Brooke Henderson and Nelly Korda Battle it Out for Chevron Championship Title

21-year-old Atthaya Thitikul has been making waves in major tournaments, with several top-7 finishes under her belt. One of those finishes was a T-4 at last year’s Chevron Championship. She currently leads the tournament with six holes left to play in the third round.

Thitikul’s impressive performance was matched by that of two-time major champion Brooke Henderson, who made a strong move up the leaderboard during the third round on Saturday. Henderson carded seven birdies and an eagle in her first 14 holes before play was suspended due to weather. At that point, she was 8 under on her round and 10 under overall, just one shot behind Thitikul.

The final round of the tournament is set to start at 10:20 a.m. ET with threesomes and split tees being used. World No. 1 Nelly Korda, who is vying for her fifth consecutive win, was tied with Henderson at 10 under with seven holes remaining. However, Korda finished bogey-bogey to fall out of contention, leaving it to Henderson and Thitikul to battle it out for the title.

Henderson continued her impressive play after a birdie at the par-3 seventh hole, following that up with an eagle at the par-5 eighth and birdies at holes 9 to 11. She then birdied holes 13 and 14 before a bogey on the par-4 16th. Her best round in a major tournament is 64, which she achieved in the first two rounds of the 2022 Evian Championship, a tournament she went on to win.
