Yamaha and Lola Cars Join Forces for Sustainable Motorsport in the ABB Formula E Championship
Yamaha Motor Company has announced a new partnership with Lola Cars to compete in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship from Season 11. The iconic motorsport brand, known for its numerous championship wins, will work with Yamaha to develop and supply a powertrain for the all-electric, single-seater race series starting in the 2024/25 season.
Mark Preston, Motorsport Director at Lola Cars Ltd, expressed excitement about returning to Formula E and highlighted the opportunity for technological development. Lola Cars has a history of success in chassis and aerodynamic design, and this project will focus on creating a unique electrified platform with software at its core.
Till Bechtolsheimer, Chairman of Lola Cars Ltd, emphasized the significance of partnering with Yamaha Motor Company for the Formula E venture. The collaboration aims to drive technological advancements in the world of motorsport, leveraging the efficient 350 kW electric powertrain that serves as a foundation for future applications in top-tier international racing.
