Schafer from VCSU emerges victorious at trap shoot state championship

VCSU Trap Club Takes Top Honors at North Dakota State Collegiate Trap Shoot with Freshman Winner Kaden Schafer!

On April 27, the Valley City State University (VCSU) Trap Club took part in the North Dakota State Collegiate Trap Shoot. Kaden Schafer, a freshman majoring in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences, emerged as the top performer of the day, winning first place in the Singles Trap event with a remarkable score of 93 out of 100.

VCSU’s top shooters for the day were Kaden Schafer, Logan Heen, Brooke Gaudry, Grant Larson, and Derek Jacobs. The team displayed impressive competitiveness and sportsmanship throughout the event.

Dr. Nick Galt, club advisor and professor at VCSU, expressed his excitement about the event and praised the competitive spirit of collegiate trap shooting. He said it was great to compete against other teams in the region and learn from them. VCSU is planning to introduce an intercollegiate Shooting Sports team in the upcoming fall season.

Despite challenging windy conditions, Kaden Schafer was pleased with his performance and emphasized the mutual respect among competitors during intense shoot-offs.
