Teens speak mental overall health with pros, parents

About 20 individuals, which includes teenagers and their parents, spent Wednesday evening speaking about mental overall health and methods to deal with conflict at the second session of the Teen Mental Well being Verify-In. This occasion was held by the Girls Dig Deeper Initiative (GDDI) and Macon Mental Well being Matters (MMHM) at the Rosa Jackson Recreation Center.

“We talked about how we are feeling, what mental overall health signifies to us, indicators and symptoms of major mental overall health diagnoses and how to determine them,” mentioned GDDI Founder Najiva Timothee. “Everyone in the area was engaged—listening, taking notes and asking inquiries.”

MMHM supplied data about resolving conflict, meditation, relaxation, and grounding tactics for anxiousness prevention. Teens also discovered about various mental overall health concerns and how to cope with them.

“Even although we are closing out May perhaps for Mental Well being Month, I encourage our youth and households to continue to prioritize their mental overall health and wellness on a each day basis,” mentioned Timothee.

The GDDI is a recipient of Macon Violence Prevention (MVP) grant funding. If you’d like to discover far more about the GDDI, click right here.
