Twitter to Stop Hiding Responses from Blocked Accounts

Social Media Platform X Rolls Out New Account Blocking Feature, Allowing Users to View Responses from Previously Blocked Accounts

Recently, social media platform X has announced a significant change to its account blocking policy. Now, users will have the ability to view responses from accounts they have previously blocked on the platform. This new feature allows users to control their interactions with other accounts and restrict their ability to contact them, view their posts, and follow them.

In the past, when a user blocked another account, the blocked account could continue to respond to the user’s posts, but the user who initiated the block could not see these responses. However, X has made changes so that users can now view responses from accounts they have blocked.

The goal of this change is to give users more control over their experience while maintaining public visibility of posts. The Engineering account on X stated that this new policy aims to allow users to identify and report any incorrect content that they could not previously see. By giving users more control over their interactions with other accounts on the platform, X hopes to empower its users and improve their overall experience on the platform.

Elon Musk, owner of X, previously expressed his opposition to blocking features on social media platforms like Twitter. He argued that it did not make sense for him as it does not align with his vision for an open-source platform where everyone can communicate freely without restrictions.

Despite being a requirement of application stores like Google Play and Apple Store, Musk felt that blocking features were not necessary for his platform’s success. He also mentioned that he was working on creating a new system that would allow users to filter out unwanted content without blocking others entirely.

Overall, X’s new account blocking policy change is designed to give users more control over their interactions with other accounts while maintaining transparency in public content.
