River Tragedy: Foreign Tourists Injured, Guide Sustains Critical Injuries in Boat Collision
In Ho Chi Minh City, a tour guide was severely injured after a boat carrying 42 foreign guests collided with a ferry on the Tien River. Dr. Le Dinh Hai from the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics at Cho Ray Hospital stated that the patient arrived in critical condition with injuries including traumatic shock, ruptured organs, and multiple broken bones. Following the accident on April 19, which also left other passengers injured, investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the collision.
Both the ship’s crew and ferry driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs. The company is working with authorities to understand the circumstances that led to the accident. Several passengers, including German and French tourists, required treatment at a nearby hospital due to their injuries. The patient is currently in intensive care receiving treatment for his injuries, but despite the efforts of the medical team they were unable to save his arm.
