Possible Measles Exposure for Eclipse Watchers at Children’s Museum

Rising Measles Cases in the US: Anti-Vax Movement, Healthcare Workers Struggle to Keep Up

Outbreaks of measles in the United States have been on the rise in recent years, with officials declaring emergencies in various states. The anti-vax movement has been identified as a contributing factor to this increase. One notable incident occurred at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis during a solar eclipse event, where an infectious person attended and later spread the virus.

Symptoms of measles include a rash, fever, cough, runny nose, and tiny white spots in the mouth. Health officials advise anyone suspected of having measles to contact their healthcare provider immediately to prevent further spread. It is crucial for individuals to get vaccinated to prevent the resurgence of preventable diseases like measles. Nearly a third of measles cases since 2020 have occurred in the past three months, indicating a resurgence of the disease. Individuals who have not received two doses of the measles vaccine are at the highest risk of infection.
