ALPENA — The Alpena Higher College track teams took best honors on their residence track Wednesday through the Northland Invitational.

Alpena’s boys group completed with 180 points, ahead of Ogemaw Heights, Tawas, Petoskey St. Michael and North Trails. Alpena’s girls group completed with 228 points, ahead of Ogemaw Heights, Tawas, North Trails and Petoskey St. Michael.

Each Alpena group had various winners like:

BOYS — Julian Stevens in the 200 dash (23.60) John Kurowski (four:46.44) Joseph Sheridan in the 110 hurdles (17.72) Elijah Allen in the 300 hurdles (42.26) the 400 relay group of Stevens, Thorin Rogers, Elyja Chism and Ty Dever (44.96) the 400 throwers relay group of Cole Herman, Matthew Lash, Oliver Duthler and Nic Geister (52.72) the 800 relay group of Rogers, Dever, Stevens, and Sheridan (1:35.38) the three,200 relay group of Allen, Kurowski, Hunter Hitzelberger and Quinn Kelly (eight:34.59) Duthler in the discus (129-ten three/four) Wesley Decker in the pole vault (9-) and Dever in the extended jump (18-six 1/two).

GIRLS — Maddie Linton in the higher jump (four-) and 300 hurdles (53.ten) Kiera Prue in the shot place (33-9 1/two) Emma Dickins in the 400 run (1:02.27) and 1,600 run (five:40.36) Chloe Lawrence in the one hundred hurdles (17.62) the 400 relay group of Keslee Jex, Lawrence, Ava Kolar and Carmen Frias (56.54) the 400 throwers relay group of Prue, Natalie Koproski, Melody Kauffman and Reaghan Fitzpatrick (1:02.66) and the three,200 relay group of Kaelyn Heath, Izzy Szymanski, Linton and Liberty Prevost (11:25.72).

SOFTBALL

Rogers City wraps up Massive Dipper

The Rogers City Higher College softball group won its eighth consecutive conference championship with a sweep more than the Oscoda Owls on Thursday to clinch the Massive Dipper title in the North Star League.

The Hurons began game 1 with a stroll by the leadoff hitter Savanah Tulgestka and then consecutive hits by Brooklyn Orr, Kaitlin Nowicki, and a triple from Alyssa Hein, Hein then scored on a groundout and the Hurons led four- and by no means looked back. Orr and Nowicki each completed the game with 3 hits and two RBI, Hein had two hits and 3 RBI although Tulgestka, McKenna Hardies, and Elise Muller every single had a hit.

Taylor Krentz was the winning pitcher permitting 5 runs on seven hits although striking out 5.

On Monday the Hurons split with Johannesburg Lewiston losing the very first game four-three and winning the nightcap six-four.

The Hurons only mustered 3 hits against all-stater Jayden Marlatt in game 1 two by Brooklyn Orr like the residence run and a double, and 1 by Alyssa Hein. Taylor Krentz pitched properly in the loss permitting 4 runs on 5 hits although striking out 5 Cardinals.

In the second game, Wesner had 3 hits, six RBI and 3 runs scored Konieczny had two hits, two RBI and 4 runs scored Madison Kamyszek had 4 hits, two RBI and scored 3 instances Hincka had two hits, 4 RBI and a run scored.

Konieczny got the win, permitting 5 runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and 3 walks.

Alcona requires two from Atlanta

The Alcona softball group hosted Atlanta Tuesday for a doubleheader and won each games for the evening six-five and 21-five.

BOYS GOLF

Alpena requires 2nd at BNC Championships

GAYLORD — The Alpena Higher boys golf group played at Gaylord Golf Club for the Massive North Conference Championship on Wednesday. Alpena completed in second spot with a group score of 333.

Gavin Hamp led the group with a fifth spot 79. Alpena completed the season third in the conference, behind TC Central and TC West. Hamp and Easton Schultz each earned all-conference Honors.

Alpena’s other finishes integrated Schultz (82), Avery Spicer (83), Harrison Kaszubowski (89), Anden Marceau (89) and Preston Schuldt (98).

BASEBALL

Mio requires twinbill from Posen

POSEN — Mio took a doubleheader from the Posen baseball group on Wednesday, beating the Vikings 16-ten and 12-three.

In the opener, Mio got the win following breaking a ten-ten in the best of the sixth inning.

Ethan Romel had 3 hits, two RBI and two runs scored for Posen Cole Krajniak had 3 hits, an RBI and 3 runs scored Lucas Mercier had 3 hits, an RBI and a run scored and Joshua Gardner had two RBI.

Mio had additional late-game firepower in game two, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to turn a five-three lead to a 12-three lead.

Krajniak had two hits and Ethan Romel had a hit and an RBI.
