Mets Reclaim Suspended Relief Pitcher Yohan Ramirez from Waivers, Designate Max Kranick for Assignment

The New York Mets have reclaimed relief pitcher Yohan Ramirez from waivers after he was claimed by the Baltimore Orioles. In order to make room for Ramirez on the 40-man roster, starting pitcher Max Kranick has been designated for assignment. This move comes after Ramirez was previously traded to the Orioles on April 11 in exchange for cash considerations, just days after being designated for assignment by the Mets.

In his three games with the Mets this season, Ramirez allowed seven runs in 5.1 innings. However, he was suspended for throwing at (and missing) Rhys Hoskins during the Mets’ season-opening series against the Milwaukee Brewers, in response to Hoskins’ dangerous slide into Jeff McNeil at second base.

Meanwhile, Kranick had been in contention for the No. 5 spot in the starting rotation before suffering an injury during spring training. After recovering, Kranick had been pitching for Triple-A Syracuse, where he posted a 4.30 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in 14.2 innings spread over six starts.
