European Union: Mattarella’s Plea for Bold Reforms Has Many Supporters

Italian President Sergio Mattarella Calls for High Voter Turnout in Upcoming European Elections

In a few weeks, 400 million European citizens will have the chance to shape the future of their continent and Union by heading to the polls to elect the new Parliament. Sergio Mattarella, President of Italy, expressed his hope for high participation in voting, stating that citizens hold the power to influence the direction that Europe takes.

Mattarella called on European institutions and governments to take a proactive role in international affairs, promoting peace, collaboration, and stability. He emphasized that Europe and its member states should not be passive observers in global events but instead actively engage with them.

The upcoming elections present an opportunity for citizens to make their voices heard and contribute to a stronger, more influential European Union on the world stage. As Mattarella stressed at a celebration of Slovenia’s accession to the EU, incisive reforms may be postponed until after the elections but are crucial for ensuring that Europe remains relevant in an ever-changing global landscape.
