Jim Irsay, owner of the Colts, opens up about his health concerns and NFL Draft plans

Colts Owner Jim Irsay Assures Fans of His Health and Control Over Franchise Amid Medical Scares and Overdose Rumors.

Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts, has recently spoken out to reassure fans and the Colts nation that he is in good health and firmly in control of the franchise. Irsay addressed details surrounding a medical episode that occurred late last year. Police and paramedics responded to a call from his home in Carmel on December 8, where Irsay was reportedly treating a serious hematoma resulting from a leg injury. While the police report mentioned a possible overdose, Irsay firmly denied this claim.

Irsay underwent surgery on his back and leg, which required him to stay in the hospital for recovery. Although he has been home for some time now, he will not be able to attend the team headquarters for this week’s NFL Draft. However, he plans to remotely participate using technology to be present in the draft room and provide input on player selections.

The Colts hold the No. 15 overall pick and are not ruling out the possibility of moving up to select Marvin Harrison Jr., the son of Colts Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison. Nonetheless, Irsay acknowledges the challenges of such a move due to the draft capital that would need to be given up. Despite missing a public event due to a serious respiratory illness, Irsay emphasized that his health issues have been ongoing for years and are not related to rumors of overdoses or other speculations.
