Beyond Higgs: Tamil Nadu Science Forum Explores the Universe’s Evolution Through Standard Model Theory

The Tamil Nadu Science Forum recently organized a free lecture on the evolution of the universe based on the standard model theory. Prafulla Kumar Behera, a physics professor from IIT-M, was the guest speaker at the event held at the Anna Centenary Library in Kotturpuram. He discussed Peter W Higgs’ theoretical discovery and its impact on shaping the future of high energy physics and technological advancements in building accelerators like large hadron colliders and detectors like ATLAS that can identify particle properties. This event is part of the weekly science lectures organized by the forum, both online and offline.

The forum has also been active lately, publishing articles on various topics. One article discusses what aspiring lecturers can expect after the KSET 2024 results are announced. Another article covers the KSET results declared by KEA, including information on qualifying marks, eligibility certificates for Assistant Professor positions, and more. There is also an article on Vellore Institute of Technology’s MSc in Data Science, highlighting how the program bridges skill gaps, offers diverse career opportunities, and provides online upskilling with expert faculty.

Despite challenging weather conditions like heatwaves in April, special events at Kolkata’s Science City and BITM attracted record footfall. BITM’s successful programs and student interest contributed to increased visitors. On the other hand, Science City’s AC galleries and Voyager movie viewing experience were popular among crowds. These events showcase continued interest in science and education even during adverse weather conditions.
