World Cup: India’s Premier Fielder Selected for Final Team

India’s impressive run in the World Cup ended with a second place finish, but there was still a sense of unity within the team as they gathered for one last occasion to award the best fielder medal. The awards had been announced in creative ways throughout the tournament, and Virat Kohli was the recipient of the final medal.

In Mumbai, Sachin Tendulkar announced Shreyas Iyer as the medal winner after India defeated Sri Lanka. In Lucknow, after their win over England, the winner was illuminated in the dark stadium. In other locations, the giant screen on the ground, the Spidercam, and even local field crew were used to announce the medal recipients.

After the semi-final match against New Zealand, fielding coach T Dilip declared Ravindra Jadeja as the winner through a dressing-room TV announcement. Suryakumar Yadav presented him with his medal with a touch of poetry. Other announcements were made in various creative manners throughout the tournament.
