WEST LIBERTY – What a way to start out a season! Specifically a senior season.
Wheeling Park righthander Gian Degenova was unhittable on the mound and knocked in a pair of runs as the Patriots debuted with a ten- victory more than going to Parkersburg. The game was halted in the bottom of the sixth by the ten-run mercy rule.
Degenova didn’t let the Large Reds (1-1) a base hit in his six innings of operate. He struck out half-a-dozen and walked a pair. He also helped himself at the plate with a single and double that accounted for the aforementioned two RBI.
Jared Marsh and Braydon Kupsky every singled twice, with Kupsky plating two runs. Ryan Conrad had a two-run single. Grant Simons and Tino Nardone had run-scoring base hits.
