UN Special Rapporteur for Palestine Receives Threats Over Report of “Genocide” in Gaza

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese Faces Threats Amidst International Ignorance of Israel’s ‘Genocide’

Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, has revealed that she has been receiving threats due to her latest report on the signs of “genocide” by Israel against the Palestinian population during the military offensive in Gaza Strip. Despite facing pressure and attacks, Albanese remains committed to her work and believes that the evidence she has gathered is significant.

In an interview with a local media outlet, Albanese expressed her disappointment at the lack of response to her report from Western States. She called it surprising and indicated that they should be questioned about their position on the matter. Albanese emphasized that her role is to ensure that member states comply with international law and that her report reveals the humanitarian camouflage used by Israel to portray their actions as isolated incidents rather than systematic violations of human rights.

Albanese’s report, presented on Monday, highlights the criteria for genocide, including the murder of group members, infliction of physical or mental harm, and deliberate destruction of living conditions. She believes that her analysis will shed light on the situation and push for accountability for Israel’s actions.

Despite the challenges she faces, Albanese remains undeterred and continues to amplify the voices of those affected by the conflict in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. She is determined to pursue justice and uphold international law in the face of criticism and threats.
