In honor of Earth Day, the Southeast Community College is hosting a Family Science Night on Monday, April 22 at the Career Academy Synergy Space on the Lincoln Campus, located at 8800 O St. The event will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Organized and run by SCC science faculty, STEM Club, STEAM Team, and other volunteers from the campus, Family Science Night is designed for elementary aged children to enjoy a range of hands-on science activities. Some of the activities planned for the evening include a geology table with bug fossils, a penny water surface tension experiment, making Earth Day bird feeders, exploring the science of popcorn, and engaging in nanoscience activities. In addition to the interactive science activities, there will also be free pizza and prizes available for attendees.
Guests can purchase food and drinks from the Sweet Treats Food Truck and Traveling Tom’s Coffee Truck during the event. To attend Family Science Night, guests must secure a free ticket which can be obtained through the event’s website at https://tinyurl.com/4hhz5x2k. It’s advised to act quickly as there are only 100 tickets available for the event.
