Small Business Owner Copes with Vandalism: Laurium Bakery Postpones Grand Opening After Window is Smashed

A newly launched small business in Laurium, located on Hecla Street, has postponed its scheduled opening after it was vandalized earlier this week. The bakery, Copper Country Sweets, was targeted by vandals who threw a brick through the front window on April 29 or 30.

Erin Turner, owner of Copper Country Sweets, announced on the business’s Facebook page that the grand opening has been delayed due to the vandalism incident. Fitzgerald’s Restaurant in Eagle River has responded by launching a donation campaign to support Turner and her business. They will be collecting donations through an event on Tock to show their support for Turner in the wake of the vandalism.

The Tock page allows people to purchase tickets to donate to Turner and help demonstrate that there are more people willing to help than harm. The Laurium Police Department is unable to provide any comment on the incident at this time.

Those interested in contributing to the fundraising efforts can visit www.exploretock.com and search for Fitzgerald’s Restaurant. The donations collected will be directed towards supporting Turner and Copper Country Sweets during this difficult time.
