Seahawks reach agreement with Laviska Shenault on contract terms

Seahawks Acquire Former Jaguars Kick Returner to Boost Special Teams

The Seattle Seahawks have recently added another player to their roster that may be able to assist in the return game. Laviska Shenault, a former second-round pick for the Jaguars in 2020, has signed with Seattle. He has experience as a kick returner and could bring value to the team’s special teams.

Shenault was traded to the Panthers at the beginning of the 2022 season and had six returns in eight games last season alone, averaging 27.7 yards per return on nine attempts over the last two seasons. Although he has shown promise as a receiver, catching 121 passes for 1,219 yards with five touchdowns in his first two seasons, his production decreased during his time with the Panthers. In the last two years, Shenault only had 37 catches for 332 yards with one touchdown.

Seattle’s decision to sign Shenault indicates their interest in strengthening their special teams and adding versatility to their roster. His experience as a kick returner and potential as a receiver could make him a valuable asset for the team moving forward. With the new kick return rule being passed, Shenault’s value may see an increase with the Seahawks.
