Scarlett Johansson Joins Jurassic World Reboot: Her Return to Major Movie Franchise Following Marvel Dispute

Jurassic World Reboot: Scarlett Johansson to Join Cast

Scarlett Johansson, the two-time Oscar nominee, is currently in discussions to join the reboot of Jurassic World. The news of her potential involvement in the project was first reported by InSneider. If she signs on, this will mark her return to a major movie franchise following her time as Black Widow at Marvel.

Johansson’s decision to take on the role in Jurassic World comes after she sued Disney during the 2021 pandemic release of Black Widow. She claimed that the studio’s simultaneous release of the movie in theaters and on Disney+ impacted box office revenues. Eventually, the two parties reached a settlement.

Jurassic World is set for a scheduled release date of July 2, 2025. David Koepp will write the script for this latest installment, bringing a fresh perspective to the Jurassic era. While cast members from previous Jurassic World films such as Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are not expected to return, actors from the original Jurassic Park trilogy, including Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill are not expected to appear in this new film either.

The production of Jurassic World will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley serving as producers under Kennedy-Marshall. Sara Scott will oversee production development as Executive Vice President of Production Development while Jacqueline Garell will serve as Creative Executive of Production Development at Universal Studios.
