Safety in Focus at Women in Business Conference

The Women in Business of Jackson gathered for a meeting focused on safety tips. Officer Taylor Gibbons from the Jackson Police Department served as the guest speaker for the event. Gibbons discussed women’s self-defense and emphasized the importance of empowering women in positions of power to defend themselves if necessary. Cameron Hansbrough, the Director of Member Relations for the Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the significance of events like these that bring women together, allowing them to network and support one another. With over 100 attendees, the event aimed to teach women how to protect themselves in case of an emergency. Gibbons also provided information on how to get involved in self-defense classes by contacting Captain Halford of the police department or any member of the police department. The next meeting in December will likely be more social in nature and involve shopping for the attendees.
