The Elite Eight matchup between Iowa and LSU drew a record-breaking 12.3 million viewers, making it the most-viewed women’s college basketball game ever. This was also the highest-rated college basketball game on ESPN platforms. Despite LSU’s efforts, they fell to Iowa with a score of 94-87, missing out on defending their national championship title.

Last year’s Elite Eight game between LSU and Iowa held the previous record with 9.9 million average viewers and 12.6 million at its peak. This year’s game reached a peak of 16.1 million viewers, making it the second-highest audience for any basketball game on ESPN since 2012.
