Putin Acknowledges Islamic Extremism Behind Moscow Concert Hall Attack; Calls for Thorough Investigation into Motives

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged that the attack on a concert hall near Moscow last Friday was carried out by radical Islamists. The assault resulted in at least 139 deaths, making it one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in Russia’s history.

During a press conference, Putin stated that the crime was committed by extremists with an ideology that has been fought against by the Islamic world for centuries. However, he also raised questions about who stood to benefit from the attack and emphasized the need for further investigation to determine its motives.

Putin linked the attack to those who have been opposing Russia since 2014, labeling them as a neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv. He believed that the perpetrators sought to sow chaos in the country but acknowledged the strength and unity of the Russian people in resisting such evil acts.

Alexander Bastrikin, director of the Russian Investigative Committee (FSB), provided details about the attack, including its timeline and weapons used by suspects. Over 200 searches and seizures related to the case have been conducted, resulting in 11 arrests so far.

The suspects have confessed to their involvement in the attack, and some have been sentenced to provisional arrest for terrorism. Among those arrested are a father and his two sons who allegedly provided assistance to perpetrators, including accommodation, transportation, and money.

The investigation into the attack is ongoing, with authorities working to uncover more information about suspect involvement and motivations behind this tragic event. Putin has reiterated his call for thorough investigative efforts to reveal the truth behind this deadly incident.

In conclusion, Putin acknowledged that radical Islamists carried out last Friday’s attack on a concert hall near Moscow with an ideology that has been fought against by Muslims worldwide for centuries. Despite this recognition, he raised questions about who benefited from this act of terrorism and emphasized further investigation is necessary to understand its motives fully.
