Pittsburgh Billionaires: David Tepper, Mark Cuban and More Make Forbes’ World Richest List

Pittsburgh boasts several billionaires on Forbes’ annual list of the world’s wealthiest individuals. The 2024 list features 2,781 billionaires with a combined net worth of $14.2 trillion. Each person’s wealth was calculated using stock prices and exchange rates from March 8, 2024.

Among those who made it to the list are three individuals with strong connections to the Steel City: Maggie Hardy, Mark Cuban, and David Tepper. Additionally, Thomas Tull and Ron Burkle, both with ties to Pittsburgh, also made the cut.

David Tepper, known as one of the greatest hedge fund managers of his generation, ranked No. 94 with a net worth of $20.6 billion. Tepper founded Appaloosa Management in 1993 and owns the Carolina Panthers and has roots in Pittsburgh’s Stanton Heights neighborhood. Mark Cuban, with a net worth of $5.4 billion, came in at No. 563. Cuban grew up in Mt. Lebanon and recently sold his majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks
