OSU Women’s Team Secures Victory in the Pink Flamingo Championship against East Carolina
The No. 15 Ohio State women’s basketball team emerged victorious in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship, defeating East Carolina 79-55. Jacy Sheldon led the way for the Buckeyes, scoring a game-high 20 points while Taylor Thierry added 14 points and eight rebounds.
Ohio State started off strong, scoring the first 10 points of the game and maintaining a commanding 21-11 lead at halftime. However, East Carolina’s Synia Johnson led a comeback in the second quarter, scoring eight of her 14 points to bring ECU within three points at halftime. But Ohio State came out firing in the second half, scoring 11 of the first 13 points to take a double-digit lead and maintained it throughout the game.
Rebeka Mikulasikova contributed 12 points, while Cotie McMahon and Rikki Harris each had 11 for Ohio State. ECU’s Johnson and Amiya Joyner scored 14 and 12 points, respectively.
The game was marred by several technical fouls, including an ejection for East Carolina’s Jade Tillman after a hard foul in the third quarter. But Ohio State’s strong performance secured a convincing victory in the tournament.
