Nickelodeon and CBS Sports are set to present an alternate telecast of Super Bowl LVIII, a game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. The game will be broadcast on Nickelodeon tonight.
The parent company of both CBS Sports and Nickelodeon is Paramount Global. The telecast will combine animation and graphics with the traditional game-day telecast, featuring popular characters from the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants. Sandy Cheeks, voiced by Carolyn Lawrence, is shown in promotional photos on the sidelines of a real-life football field.
SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star will call the game alongside CBS Sports analyst Nate Burleson and play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle. Larry the Lobster will also provide live commentary.
Nickelodeon has been airing “NFL Slimetime” since 2021, a weekly show hosted by Burleson and child actor Dylan Gilmore. The duo will report live from Allegiant Stadium during the game.
If you are watching the game with kids, the Nickelodeon broadcast might be the perfect option for you as it offers an interactive and engaging experience that combines sports with animation and fun characters.
