Lakewood Health Clinic in Staples to Welcome Cancer Center in 2022

Newly Announced Cancer Center Set to Transform Healthcare in Staples

Last month, Lakewood Health System in Staples officially announced the construction of the Lakewood Cancer Center. Set to be completed by the summer of 2025, this 19,270 square-foot addition will be located just southwest of the clinic, with groundbreaking scheduled for spring.

The decision to move forward with the Cancer Center was made due to the significant growth of Lakewood’s oncology team and services over the past two years. Additionally, there has been a steady increase in provider coverage, making an expansion necessary.

The state-of-the-art Cancer Center will feature 14 infusion bays, an in-house PET/CT scan machine, and other advanced facilities. The addition of such a facility in a rural setting like Staples is unprecedented and will benefit both patients and healthcare workers alike.

Among its amenities, the Cancer Center will have a dedicated reception and waiting area for patients. Oncology case managers will also be conveniently located within the new space for easy access to patients. This project represents a significant step for the local healthcare system and will greatly benefit the community it serves.
