Wrighton appointed chair of Science Center board at The Source

New Chair Appointed at Saint Louis Science Center: Photochemistry Expert Mark S. Wrighton Brings Expertise to Improve Accessibility of Science and Technology

Mark S. Wrighton, the James and Mary Wertsch Distinguished University Professor at Washington University in St. Louis, has been appointed chair of the Saint Louis Science Center’s board of commissioners. He began his term on January 1st. In this role, Wrighton works closely with the Science Center’s president to improve the institution.

The Science Center is a nonprofit organization that makes science, technology, engineering and math accessible to the St. Louis region and beyond through interactive experiences. It is one of only a few free science museums in the country and attracts nearly half a million visitors each year, making it one of the largest science centers in the U.S. and abroad.

Before entering university administration, Wrighton had research achievements in photochemistry, surface chemistry, and electrochemistry. He previously served as a member of the Science Center’s board of commissioners and for many years as a member of its board of trustees.
