New Breakthrough in Sustainable Construction: Kajima’s Low-Carbon Concrete Dome for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo

Kajima Corporation recently announced a major breakthrough in reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for the construction of a concrete dome for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. The company will use a revolutionary type of low-carbon concrete that reduces emissions by an astounding 70% compared to traditional construction methods.

The dome, which is set to be built in the West Gate Zone of the expo venue, will serve as an exhibition space on environmental education. The construction of the dome is scheduled to begin in April and be completed in November 2024. The dome will stand at 5.45 meters tall with an oval shape and a diameter of 23 by 18 meters.

Kajima’s use of low-carbon concrete along with a cutting-edge technology that absorbs CO2 during manufacturing is expected to result in a significant reduction in CO2 emissions.
