Residents of Marion, Illinois are buzzing with excitement as plans for a $30 million multi-use sports complex continue to progress. The Marion city council and Williamson County board of commissioners recently signed a joint agreement with Oasis Sports to build this new facility.
Once completed, the complex will be able to host local and traveling baseball, softball, and soccer teams. The sports complex will be located behind the former Illinois Star Center Mall, just west of Interstate 57 in Marion. This development is sure to be a game-changer for Marion, providing a much-needed space for sports teams to compete and bringing in revenue to the area.
In addition to finalizing the agreement, new hotel tax ordinances were passed to help cover the financing for the project. With construction underway, residents can look forward to a state-of-the-art sports complex that will benefit the community for years to come. The entire complex is expected to be completed by spring 2025.
